Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering

GPA 3.57/4.0

Minor in Mechanical Engineering

Overall GPA: 3.22 / 4.0

I always knew I wanted to be an engineer…

Growing up I took apart every toy I ever had. I was always dreaming of ways to make things better, or make things that didn’t exist. That desire led me to UTA.

I started out my college career in the department of Mechanical Engineering. There I learned about mechanical structures, thermodynamics, and methods of manufacturing. What I never thought I’d learn about in is programming. After taking my first programming class in the Mechanical department I realized that I had chosen the wrong career path. I have always been a tech nerd but I found my passion for computer programming in that course and decided to change my major the very next semester.

During my studies, I have chosen to focus on embedded systems development. Balancing hardware and software is an entirely different discipline to computer science and thats why I chose to major in computer engineering.

My coursework has taught me the fundamentals in electronics and circuits, as well as the fundamentals of programming and development. On the hardware side, we have covered bare metal programming of PIC and ARM micro controllers in assembly and “higher” languages such as C. As far as broader software goes, coursework has exposed me to object oriented programming, software design patterns, and software engineering practices. I have also been exposed to languages such as C, C++ , Python, and Java, though I have primarily focused on C and C++ because of their prevalence in embedded technologies.
